Broomstick First Sketch ideas

These are just a few of my ideas what the broom will look like.. I really like the style of the Fantasia broomsticks, so i incorporated that into my designs.

    Evening Matt,

I get the feeling that you're struggling with your object a little; in truth, I still think the father/son relationship is a complication; an oafish broom is like a 'an oafish dancer' in so much as its very basically a contradiction; you have an object that tidies and improves behaving in a way most likely to accomplish the opposite effect - and herein lies the comedic potential; it sort of reminds me of a hurdler knocking down every hurdle; I think maybe you should think about the environment for your oafish broom - what is the worst possible place for an oafish broom to go about its business, I wonder? Again - I cite the 'bull in a china shop' scenario.

Also, in terms of your character design, I don't think it 'reads' as a broom - and also, I note you've taken the limbs from Fantasia, but I wonder if this is actually stopping you from thinking in a fresh and creative way; if you think of the brush as the buttocks, thighs and legs, and the handle as the spine, then try looking at very obese people walking for an oafish pattern of movement - or look at the backsides of grizzly bears/hippos/rhinos etc. for that heavy gait - the broom handle would be the secondary movement set off by the lumbering of the bottom half - and if the legs and backside of the broom was soft (made of bristles) it would react like a pair of very overweight legs in terms of squash and stretch. Could you not create an 'odd couple' out of an oafish, morbidly obese broom and a small, petite dustpan - like a hippo and mouse?

Re. your written assignment, see the following post for guidance regarding the relationship between your introduction and the main body of your essay.
